U13LCDUL ETP UL blitz 13.11.2016

Limerick County & District Underage League hosted the 1st of four planned Etp u13 soccer blitz days last Sunday in the astro pitchs of UL. Limerick County along with the underage leagues of South Tipperary, Clare & Limerick Desmond served up some top class competitive soccer, with many stars of the future on show. County played some good attacking soccer with great interplay between players a feature of their three games, players got up on 100mins of ball each so lot of tired legs after but the quality never dipped throughout and these games are very benifical to the ongoing development of the players. Limerick Co won the opening game 2-0 v Clare, went down 2-1 to South Tipp in 2nd game & finished with a 2-1 win over neighbours Desmond in third game. Our goalscorers on the day John English (2), Shane o'Brien (2) & Harry Fox. A terrific squad performance with all players excellent on the day, thanks to everyone who helped make it a successful day, UL staff, referees, players, parents & coaches. Limerick County squad. Ultan Hogan, Jack McNamara, Cian Smith, Eoin o'Connor, Paddy Bermingham,Noah Patterson, Euan Sheridan, Jeffrey O'Rourke, Killian Ahern, Conor Hynes, Colin Quaid, Ewan Dillon, Shane o'Brien, Cathal o'Mahony, Darragh o'Brien, Owen o'Sullivan, Harry Fox, John English & Paddy Kennedy(capt).

Holycross v Castle United
Castle U15s the architects of their own downfall.
Under 15 Prem 2016/2017 03/12 14:30
Holycross 3 - 0 Castle United

Castle left the field wondering what have might have been after a number of basic errors saw them gift victory to their Holycross opponents. The first half followed the pattern of most Castle games this season; chance after chance came and went. Sean Lyons had a chance from an early corner. This was followed by a near miss from striker Josh O Brien. Shaun Moloney saw a header fly agonisingly wide of the post. And with the half coming to a close both Shaun Moloney and the impressive Jimmy Quilty stung the hands of the Holycross ‘keeper with ferocious free kicks. Castle bossed the first half, a half that was sadly soured by an injury to a key player.

The second half started well with the hard working Declan Gilligan going close with a header. But that’s where it all ended for Castle. A Holycross through ball was cleared only for it to rebound off their lucky striker and into the net. Castle’s composure was rocked and this led to a second for Holycross. A flighted free kick into the box found two unmarked men at the far post, the outcome was inevitable. A basic error added the third for Holycross on what was a bitterly disappointing day for the Castle players. Despite the errors the hard work was clearly on show. This team will bounce back quickly.

Herbertstown 1 - 6 Galbally

Our under 13's may have been on the end of a 5-1 scoreline but the hard work which is being put in on the training pitch , seem's to be showing itself within recent games . Some lovely football in phases is creeping nicely through transitionally in regard to player development. Jack O Sullivan scored a long range rocket which left its mark on the post before nestling to the net. Keep up the work lads . Well done to Galbally who are a very good team.
